What We Do
What We Do
Outdoor Society offer comprehensive, turn-key solutions for all your hard and soft custom landscaping needs. As a boutique landscaping company, we are committed to guiding you through every step of the process, from design to construction, ensuring precision and quality in every detail.
Design

We work collaboratively with you to form a narrative for the landscape based on the cumulation of project requirements, site conditions and stakeholder’s input. We assess the natural features of the site, such as topography, views, climate, and existing vegetation and use these to inform our design concept.
It is important for the built environment to feel as though it belongs to the site so consideration of lines, forms, textures, patterns and scale of the architecture is given and reflected in the landscape design.
Harmony and continuity in materials and spaces, creates a visual connection that makes transitions between indoor and outdoor areas feel natural. We look for opportunities within the architectural design to enhance the connection and integration of the outdoor environments; considering key focal points and external outlooks (from internal rooms) for strategic positioning of sculptural elements and design features within the landscape.
We always strive to enhance sustainability; to reduce environmental impacts of our projects and enhance the building’s green credentials through passive climate control.
A clearly articulated vision and plan enables successful execution of each project. Our team produces schematic concept designs through to fully specified construction documentation and can assist with:

Master Planning

Strategic master-planning brings clarity to place-making by thoroughly analysing and addressing each site, its unique context and the overarching project vision.
We start with understanding users’ needs, then design outwards - focusing on the emotions and functions that shape the user experience. We use ethnographic research, human insight, truth and creativity to develop masterplans that prioritize sustainability, adaptability and continue to meet the evolving demands of the site and the dynamic, ever-changing needs of the people who activate these spaces.
Through collaborative design, we combine landscape and building expertise to create solutions that are not only functional but inspiring, transformative, and community centred. We aim to integrate the built environment with a nuanced response to urban settings, harmonizing human habitation with nature through considered planning and design of the landscape.
We align masterplans with both the physical and cultural landscape while meeting the needs of communities and stakeholders through contextual analysis of the site including:
-
- Cultural & Historical Significance: respect and reflect the community’s identity
- Ecological & Native Habitats: appropriate to site, restorative, regenerative and sustainable
- Water resources and management: wetlands, flood zones, droughts
- Urban Integration & Community Placemaking: design spaces that reflect local values
- Art & Cultural Expression: Incorporating public art, sculptures, murals and interactive installations that reflect local culture and encourage engagement.
- Connectivity & Accessibility: integration of pathways, roads and transport links.
- Green Infrastructure: sustainable hardscaping, permeable pavements, thermal reduction, biodiversity
- Strategic Land Use Planning , Zoning & Growth Management: adaptable to population growth and changes in lifestyle or environmental conditions
- Phased Implementation: Planning for staged developments to minimises disruptions & manage budgets across multiple staged project deliverables
- Public Engagement: Involving the community throughout the planning process to understand their needs, gather feedback, and create a sense of ownership.
- Safety and Accessibility: Designing inclusive spaces that are accessible for people of all ages and abilities
