Northcote - Palmer St
Project Details
Offering a stunning swimming experience, this pool combines functionality and modern design with its use of considered lines, natural stone and native timbers. The simple and refined design of this pool creates a relaxing atmosphere that seamlessly integrates with the surrounding landscape.
The Palmer St project presented several complexities, including proximity to the house, limited site access and highly reactive soil. The water, gas and electricity services had to be rerouted to accommodate the pool's placement and to ensure that the surrounding areas were safe and stable. Our team overcame these challenges through a meticulous planning process and working closely with the customer to achieve the outcome they desired. As a result, the final design created an expansive and practical space with a beautiful and functional garden environment.
Design
The design of this pool was carefully considered, with the intention of integrating the new pool and garden areas with the existing home and the contextual natural aesthetics of the surrounding environment. There was limited space in the yard, so we created a pool area that felt open and expansive whilst working within the confinements of the site. We had to be creative with the pool equipment, so we created a secret equipment space hidden behind feature doors constructed from the same Cypress timber as the fencing, to maintain the raw, organic feel that was already established, for consistency and cohesiveness.
Unique materials:
The fencing materials selected consisted of galvanized steel rails, Cypress timber posts, and Silvertop Ash. The combination of these materials created a fence that will weather and age with the garden, helping to maintain a soft and subtle colouring to complement the overall design.
The pool has a plastered concrete shell with Bisazza Mosaic tiles to the waterline and on the bench.
Equipment:
For this client, it was imperative to use sustainable and eco-friendly equipment. We installed solar powered pool heating, heat pump, and motorised pool blanket; to minimise energy consumption. We also installed a climate care certified variable speed pump for energy efficiency.
This combination ensured the pool could be used year-round at a comfortable temperature.
Equipment source list:
Astral Chlorinator/Filter/Pumps
Sunbather Electric Blanket and Roller
Landscaping:
The landscaping work on this project was completed in collaboration with The Outdoor Society.
Client Testimonial:
“Adam did a fantastic job with our pool, landscaping and studio. He was a pleasure to work with and always went the extra mile to get everything just right. He is always keen to make it look perfect. He continues to deliver and help even after the build is complete. I have, and would recommend him to anyone, you couldn't find a better landscaper/pool builder” – Tim – Northcote
