We believe that landscaping is a vital component in creating an enriching, safe, and sustainable learning environment: one that supports students’ academic and personal development, promotes health/well-being and fosters a sense of connection to the natural world.
Through thoughtful design practice we can enhance educational experiences and contribute positively to the broader community. Outdoor Society strives to excite and engage students with inspiring, playful and natural outdoor surroundings whilst meeting the ever-evolving needs of students, educators and school communities.
We prioritise safety and create inclusive environments that cater to a diverse range of needs and abilities, mindful of selecting non-toxic and (where appropriate), native and productive plant species. We understand that well-maintained landscapes with clear sight-lines enhance safety and allow for better supervision; (avoiding hidden areas where accidents or incidents might occur).
Our vision is to facilitate the development of sustainable educational spaces that foster positive student behaviors by designing interactive landscapes that align with school curriculum, enhance learning, and encourage active student participation. Through engagement with the landscape and playscapes, we aim to inspire and inform students and assist them in making consciously sustainable lifestyle choices both now and in the future.
We aim to assist schools in creating interpretive playscapes and places where students can learn about the importance of biodiversity, energy, food, waste and water. We endeavour to design landscapes that complement existing features, provide interactive and educational opportunities and cultivate an aesthetic that entices students to spend time outside, respectfully enjoying and having fun in and around nature.
